A 325-metre tower providing extreme sports activities has been proposed for Dubai’s coastline, according to a report by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH).

The proposed ‘Base Jump Tower’ would “emulate the ascent to Mount Everest”, with base camps providing a variety of sports activities.

These include extreme climbing, abseiling, base jumping, wire-assisted high diving and free-fall facilities.

Architect firm 10 Design was reportedly commissioned as the lead designer on the proposed project. The tower has external hexagrid skin, and flares out at both the base and the top to house the extreme sports activities, including ice climbing.

CTBUH quoted the architecture website Archello, which said the tower would have three peaks designed as platforms for free fall and base jumping.

The Dubai representative of 10 Design did not immediately respond to a request for comment when contacted by staging.bigprojectme.com/. It is not clear whether the proposed building has a developer or planning approvals in place.
